This just in from New York magazine -
"The evangelical Christian preacher says the secular holy trinity of money, ambition, and achievement is the root of all evil. So why are so many New Yorkers flocking to him?"
A little background information: Tim Keller is the pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, which has branched out to several locations in Manhattan. He's also the author of the book The Reason for God. Though Keller is very much rooted in conservative Evangelical Christian theology, he makes it a point to be culturally relevant.
What do you think of Redeemer's tactics for reaching out to non-believers? Is this article an accurate depiction of Keller and Evangelical Christians in general?

Avoiding media attention is quite the good idea. Especially if you claim to be an evangelical Christian. I believe the automatic label that comes to mind if you claim this for many people is "crazy".
ReplyDeleteFor a pastor to come to NYC (heathen capital of heathen New England some would say) denotes either craziness or near complete faith in God.
I'm glad there are still people out there with that kind of faith.
The Reason for God is, by the way, a very good book.
